Bootleggers and Blind Pigs: Brewery and Wine Bus Tour

Nowhere was the battle over Prohibition more hard-fought than in the village of Goodhue.

Prohibition was complicated in Goodhue County: some townships kicked alcohol to the curb before nation even went dry. While others in the county sold it without hesitation, and different groups of folks had very strong feelings on both sides of the issue. Hop on the bus with the Minnesota Transportation Museum to travel down to Red Wing as a Goodhue County Historical Society quenches your thirst for the historical debate for or against prohibition.

Here’s the low down on the Hooch History Tour:

11 AM 
• Bus will pick up Giggle Water Drinkers at the Minnesota Transportation Museum
11 AM – 12 PM 
• Historian will give riders the scoop about Prohibition in Goodhue County as we make our way down to Red Wing
12 PM – 1:30 PM 
• Bus will stop at Old West Main in Red Wing, MN for a bite to eat at Kelly’s Bar
• After lunch a quick stop near Trenton Island
2:05 PM
• Board Bus in Red Wing and travel to Zumbrota with more from the history guide about the history of this time period and location with this group
2:45 PM
• Make a stop in Zumbrota – they were a proud of their role as a “dry town” during this time 
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM 
• Cannon River Winery for beverages – NOTE If attendees want to participate in a wine tasting it will cost $10 per person
5:00 PM 
• Return to the Minnesota Transportation Museum
