Free Family Fun Day: Dia de los Muertos

November 3 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Dia de los Muertos originated in Mexico and honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations. Assured that the dead would be insulted by mourning or sadness, Dia de los Muertos celebrates the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life.

Join Hispanic Outreach of Goodhue County and the Goodhue County Historical Society in a celebration of this holiday. Hispanic Outreach will teach participants about traditional altars, sugar skulls, and more! ArtReach will lead participants in a related art project.

Be sure to arrive at the Goodhue County History Center at 1 PM for a performance of “Skeletons in the Closet,” a Day of the Dead puppet show. Through the eyes of two children, we will discover the traditions and meaning of Dia de los Muertos. This bilingual pupppet show also gently teaches that love continues after death.

Free Family Fun Day is sponsored in part by Xcel Energy.
