Golf Ball Drop

August 16 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Golf Ball Drop Raises Funds for Goodhue County History Museum

Location: Mississippi National Golf Course

Date: August 16

Time: 4 pm – 6 pm

Golf Ball Drop at 5:30 pm

As many as 400 numbered golf balls will be dropped by a Red Wing Fire Department snorkel truck as part of a fundraiser for the Goodhue County Historical Society.

The Golf Ball Drop will take place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at Mississippi National Golf Course. The first ball to go into a designated hole will be declared the winner. If no ball goes into the hole, the ball closest to it will be the winner.

The person holding the raffle ticket with the number corresponding to that ball will receive 50 percent of the gross proceeds from the sale of golf balls. Since the balls “sell” for $10 each, the winner will receive up to $2,000.

Historical society volunteers plan to make the drop a festive event. Other fundraising activities are being planned, and Mississippi National has food and beverage service.

The public is invited to come out and watch the drop, project chairperson Ken Roufs said, but the winner does not need to be present that night to claim the prize.

Historical society board members are selling the raffle tickets, and they are available at the History Center. People must be at least 18 to purchase tickets. Call 651-388-6024 for more information.
