History Break: An Immigration Orphan Train Experience

Spend your lunch hour at the Goodhue County History Center for our monthly free lunchtime program! Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch with them while they soak up stories. All programs begin at noon. Space is limited to 60 people.

Minnesotan author and orphan train historian Renée Wendinger will present on the largest mass migration of children ever to occur in American history. Her mother, one of the children on the orphan trains, took part in a phenomenal journey from New York City to the Midwest. Renée’s work has been featured in PBS documentary “West By Orphan Train,” USA Today, People and O Magazines, CBS and WVOX New York, WCCO Minnesota, American Radio Broadcast, New York City Tours, and in numerous newspapers across the country.
