History Break: The British Fur Trade in Minnesota

November 28 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Spend your lunch hour at the Goodhue County History Center for our monthly free lunchtime program! Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch with them while they soak up stories.

Learn about the British Fur Trade in the upper Midwest. This presentation will be a general overview of the trade and will draw on the specific example of  North West Company’s Snake River Fur Post, a reconstruction near Pine City, MN.

Patrick is a graduate of Northland College where he learned French Canadian voyageur songs and became fascinated by their history. He has been the site manager at the Snake River Fur Post for thirty years and when not studying the fur trade he can be found sailing on tall ships on the Great Lakes and North Atlantic.
