History Break: The Mystery of Shakespeare’s Dark Lady

Spend your lunch hour at the Goodhue County History Center for our monthly free lunchtime program!  Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch with them for our History Break programs.

Author Mary Sharratt talks about her novel, The Dark Lady’s Mask, drawn from the dramatic life of England’s first professional female writer. A short presentation will be followed by Q & A and a book signing.

Bio: Author Mary Sharratt is on a mission to write women back into history. Her acclaimed novels include Illuminations: A Novel of Hildegard von Bingen, which won the 2013 Nautilus Gold Award and was a Kirkus Book of the Year. Born in Minnesota, she currently lives in England. A passionate Shakespeare enthusiast and a regular theatre goer, her explorations into the hidden histories of Renaissance women compelled her to write her latest novel, The Dark Lady’s Mask: A Novel of Shakespeare’s Muse, which celebrates the life of Aemilia Bassano Lanier, England’s first professional female writer.
