Snowshoes and Stories at Hok-Si-La

February 9 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Enjoy coffee, hot cocoa, and water as you listen to the “hidden history” of the area – the facts and stories usually unknown to the public. Topics include the Silvernale Phase, when Lake Pepin was a Native American cultural center hundreds of years prior to white settlement, and Rest Island, a 19th century spiritual retreat for “drunkards and inebriates” which shut down just two years after opening.

Celebrate the snow and beauty of winter as we snowshoe through Hok-Si-La with guides from the campground. Beginners are welcome!

Contact the Goodhue County Historical Society (651.388.6024) to reserve your spot today or stop by in person. This program is limited to 15 people, be sure to sign up early! Participants are encouraged to bring their own snow shoes (if they already own them). Participants will also have the option to use snow shoes provided by Hok-Si-La Municipal Park and Campground.  Cost for this program is $20 for GCHS Members and $25 for Non-Member

Program will be cancelled if icy conditions continue.  Update will be sent out  Weds. Feb. 6th.
