Snowshoes and the Fur Trade Through Art & Exploration, Ages 5 – Adult

December 8 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Example of finished artwork

Join the Goodhue County Historical Society and artist, Richard Spiller, for a multi-generational art workshop. A child and an adult registered together will work collectively to compose watercolor art out of snowshoe frames and line work. Together you will examine the snowshoe as a frame for art generated by using lines that lead to shapes, energized by watercolor. You’ll also learn about transportation during the fur trade and explore the temporary exhibit Fur Trade in Minnesota during a self-guided tour.

Finished art works will be exhibit at the Goodhue County History Center through January 4, 2019. Children and adults are encouraged to attend together, however, children age 5 + and adults can attend alone. This class is co-sponsored by Red Wing Community Education and the Goodhue County Historical Society.
