The Whos, Whats, and Whys of Red Wing: Interactive History Seminars, 1849 to Present

This seminar series will take place on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Goodhue County History Center. To register for this seminar series, call Red Wing Community Education at 651-385-4565 or visit their online registration site. 

The Goodhue County Historical Society, and Red Wing native and historian Frederick Johnson, will present a series of six 90-minute seminars (45 minutes of lecture and 45 minute discussion) focused on Red Wing history from territorial days to present. Johnson will explore the “whos, whats, and whys” of city history. The content in this series will use Johnson’s four decades of research and critically acclaimed writings about his hometown and Minnesota history as its foundation. Each participants will also receive a copy of Johnson’s book, “Goodhue County: A Narrative History,” as a resource to support the class and learn more about each topic based on his or her unique interests. Participants will receive the book at the beginning of the class session. 

The series, “The Whos, Whats, and Whys of Red Wing: Interactive City History Seminars, 1849 to Present,” will run during October and November, 2018 and include the following topics (click on each option to learn more): 

Cost is $15 per individual class or $60 for all six classes. Enrollment includes admission to the Goodhue County History Center, a 90 minute seminar, and the book “Goodhue County: A Narrative History.”
