Free Family Fun Day: America 250 & Ice Cream Social

July 11 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free

The United States turns 250 years old this year, and we’re celebrating with our annual ice cream social! What was happening in Minnesota in 1776? Find out by exploring our exhibits and interacting with a fur trade reenactment group! Plus, view displays of bicentennial (1976) and Independence Day items in the GCHS collection.

La Compagnie des Hivernants de la Riviere Saint Pierre (Winterers of the St Peters River) is a fur trade group based in the Twin Cities that recreates the life of the Voyageurs. They have paddled multiple historic routes in canoes, and have demonstrated trapping, hunting skills, fire starting, French Canadian culture, and more at historical sites across the Midwest.

Admission is free for everyone, thanks to our sponsors!
